8:30 a.m. is typically not an hour that I’m most alive, but on Monday’s and Wednesday’s, my eyes open up. That’s when my graphics class starts. Learning concepts and training my graphic eye is truly a reason to look alive.

“A NIGHT AT THE CABERNET” KICKSOFF
Shelly Shanks | Artistic Activist
Shelly Shanks

There are many diverse artists in Houston alone that take over our eye's attention. One artist in particular puts her motherly instincts to work from behind her canvas. Shelly Shanks is an artist dedicated to helping non-profit corporations and doesn't let anything kill her enthusiasm. She is most proud of the fact that she can overcome obstacles with a glass of wine in her hand, wearing a pair of Jimmy Choos and all while eating a lunch in a fancy restaurant. Where was her skirt! optimism born from?
