HOUSTON (November, 2008) – Cancer Counseling, Inc., recently held a successful and well-attended kickoff party for the 6th Annual Vintner’s Dinner, “A Night at the Cabernet.” A non-profit organization, Cancer Counseling provides no-cost professional counseling and community education in an effort to assist cancer patients, their families and friends who are coping with the emotional effects of cancer. Welcoming a crowd of more than a 100 guests, the passion and generosity expressed in support of organization’s cause was exceptional.
Preceding November’s highly anticipated Vintner’s Dinner, Armando’s Bar and Restaurant offered the perfect atmosphere and opportunity for guests to show their support, win prizes, purchase tables and secure tickets for the exclusive evening. Among the stellar crowd of supporters, noteworthy guests included Jan and Dan Duncan, Barbara Abramowitz, Dr. Madaiah Revana, Jim and Karen MacWilliam, Babette and Mike Dawson and Astrid Van Dyke.
“We are excited about the growing enthusiasm of the Vintner’s Dinner,” announced Elizabeth Wilson, Cancer Counseling Executive Director. “We are proud to announce that we have a record-breaking $93,000 in table sales.”
The 6th Annual Cancer Counseling Vintner’s Dinner, “A Night at the Cabernet,” will be held on November 21, 2008 at the Four Seasons Hotel. With the Duncan Cancer Center serving as the 2008 honoree, Cancer Counseling will acknowledge the organizations commitment to a cancer-prevention presence within the Baylor College of Medicine and the Texas Medical Center. Diligently assembling cancer-related initiatives across three institutions—Texas Children’s Hospital, Ben Taub General Hospital and the Michael E. DeBakey Veterans Affairs Medical Center, the Duncan Cancer Center’s mission is to improve cancer research, enhance patient care and provide the diverse population of Houston with access to an exceptional team of cancer experts, expedite the effectiveness of prevention efforts and ultimately participate in development of a cure.
